Director, Research and Sponsored Programs
The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time position as Director, Research and Sponsored Programs. The anticipated start date is August 16, 2020. Morehead State University is located in Morehead, KY, a designated Kentucky Trail Town, nestled in Daniel Boone National Forest, in close proximity to Cave Run Lake. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director for the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) is responsible for all aspects of grant and contract development and administration and provides leadership in the development of policies and procedures to promote growth of the University’s portfolio of externally funded grants and contracts. The Director is responsible for the management of the ORSP with regard to both pre-award and post-award processes and works closely with internal administrative units and external agencies in proposal development to ensure compliance with Federal and state regulations. The Director assists senior level administrators with decision making by providing input for developing, writing, implementing, interpreting, disseminating, and enforcing the policies governing grants and contracts. The Director serves as the University’s liaison between external agencies and internal administrative units to ensure compliance with Federal, state, and private regulations.
REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree and a minimum of five years of increasing responsibility in grant and contract development and administration (or comparable experience) with a general background of the regulations governing compliance policies and procedures of grants and contracts. Knowledge of mandated regulations governing grants by Federal, state, and private agencies required. Excellent supervisory, interpersonal, writing, editing, and effective public speaking skills are required. Strong quantitative and computer skills. Ability to effectively administer all position duties and responsibilities is essential.
