The Adult Learning Center at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time position as an Adult Education Specialist. The anticipated start date is September 16, 2022

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Outreach Specialists are responsible for making personal and community-based outreach contacts in their service area to increase awareness about adult education programs and resources. Outreach Specialist will travel daily across the six-county service area including Rowan, Montgomery, Bath, Powell, Wolfe and Morgan Counties. Outreach Specialists serve as the primary liaison between their adult education program and the Kentucky Adult Education’s (KYAE) Recruitment and Outreach Senior Coordinator. Outreach Specialists collaborate with the program Director, KYAE College and Career Navigators (CCNs) and Strategic Partnership Coordinators (SPCs) to ensure cohesive and unduplicated service provision.

 

REQUIREMENTS:  Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, student counseling or education related field. Excellent public speaking, diplomacy, interpersonal skills, and time management/scheduling skills. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and demonstrate a high level of initiative. Proficient in computer, digital literacy and online social media platforms.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Experience in client relations, program marketing, promotion and recruitment. Experience with social services and collaborating with community partners would be beneficial.

The AE Outreach Specialist will be supervised by the AE Director. There is daily communication and interaction with the Director, AE Instructors, and CCN. Outreach Specialist will report outcomes to the AE Director and KYAE Strategic Partnership Coordinators.

Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs (marketing materials, table for set-up at events) and be able and willing to travel within the six-county service area.

Frequent travel, compiling and submitting information/data, occasional evening and weekends when community events occur during irregular work-hours. Daily communication with adult learners, employers, rehabilitation and detention centers, AE staff and community partners.
